“Grateful to be alive,” Elliot Page reveals the first chapter of his autobiography, Pageboy.

He is one of the most famous trans people on the planet. On June 6, comedian Elliot Page will present his autobiography titled Page. In this book, which will be published in France by Kero on June 7, the actor of the Netflix series umbrella academy will look back on his incredible journey to Hollywood as well as his transition.

Revealed at 20 by movie Juno (which will earn him an Oscar nomination), the December 2020 transgender star talks in this book about his relationship with his body, his mental health, and the journey he took to finally find peace with himself .

“Obviously, there were very difficult times. (…) But today I am on my own, and I am grateful that I am here and live and take one step after another. My experience as a transgender person, the life that I have, and the privileges I have to enjoy, not reflect the reality of most transgender lives”, deplores Elliot Page, who denounces attacks on members of the LGBTQ+ community of which he has become a spokesperson.

The 36-year-old comedian decided to share his story to help people who are going through the same thing as him. “I think we need to feel represented and see ourselves, you know, that’s not what I had as a kid”admits a Canadian artist revealing an excerpt from the first chapter of his book in People where he tells how he found out about his homosexuality with a young woman named Paula.

“I began to understand what all these poems are about, what they are about. (…) Here I am, on the dance floor, with a woman who wants to kiss me, and the antagonistic and cruel voice flooding my head whenever I felt this desire was silent. Maybe for a second I could allow myself some pleasure.” writes Elliot Page, shaken by the kiss.

“We looked at each other, silent knowledge. Here I was on the edge of the abyss. Approaching my desires, my dreams, me, without the unbearable weight of self-hatred that I had carried for so long. But a lot can change in a few months. And after a few months, Juno I would go to the cinema.
