In summer, even the most chilly succumb to the temptation of a cold shower. In case of extreme heat, the instant coolness it provides seems like a good idea. But is it really effective? For the doctors we consulted, this is not the case, and is not even recommended. “When it’s very hot, the body spends a lot of energy to keep the temperature at 37 degrees.”explains Dr. Faiza Bossi in the TF1 report at the beginning of this article. “If you chill it too much, it will work too hard”General practitioner warns “but we want just the opposite, namely, to put him to rest”. The supposed calming effect of a cold shower is actually only a momentary sensation.
