The Highest Authority for Public Transparency (HATVP) believes that there is no conflict of interest that could prejudice the new functions of the Minister of Health, Aurelien Rousseau, because of the functions that his wife performs.

The Higher Office for Public Transparency (HATVP) has arrived to validate the defense of new Health Minister Aurélien Rousseau. In a press release issued on Tuesday, she confirms “that the office of the minister’s wife is not in itself such as to constitute situation of conflict of interest“. The Minister’s wife, Marguerite Kazenev, is Deputy Director General for Health at the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam).
She believes “that the concept of conflict between public interests applies only if the interests in question do not coincide” and what CNAM “a national public institution of an administrative nature (…) under the control of the ministries of health, economy and finance, who sign with it a multi-annual agreement on objectives and management (COG) that formalizes the concurrence of interests between the state and the public institution”conflict of interest has not been proven.
Soon a deportation decree was issued.
Also, “the deportation order has already been requested by the minister” with the Prime Minister, on the condition that Health Minister Aurelien Rousseau “withdraws any decision directly or indirectly related to the professional situation of his spouse, satisfies the requirements for the prevention of conflict of interest”– said HATVP.

On Monday, during the trip, Aurelien Rousseau assured that“no conflict of interest” which may arise in connection with the respective responsibilities of the couple, “because we are pursuing (…) the same public interest, which is to ensure access to health care for our fellow citizens”. He also said that he would “compensate” on all matters relating personally to his wife.
