Most MPs accused of writing fake threatening letters

In recent days, several majoritarian MPs have received threatening letters, allegedly written by the same person. National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivé is one of the recipients, she announced this Sunday in Le Grand Jury LCI /RTL/Le Figarostating that he filed a complaint. Other elected officials targeted include MPs Yveline Marie Lebec and Aurora Berger. But over the weekend, they were accused on social media of having written the letter themselves. “pity people” Where “to impersonate the victim”.

Friday, March 24, in the middle of the day, Marie Lebec, Renaissance deputy for Yvelines, was the first to unveil a letter with insults and threats, in particular death, addressed to her child. A few hours later, the head of the deputies of the Renaissance, Aurora Berger in turn, posts on Twitter a photo of a letter with sexist and threatening statements. “Insulting, intimidating was already unbearable. But to come and threaten my 4-month-old baby: “He is so small, my offspring, he will not run away. Fire, baseball bat.” , iron rod…” This is vile. It’s just disgusting.”she wrote in the comments.

Front and back sides of the same letter

The next day, Saturday March 25th, she makes a new tweet to outrage that some people accuse her of writing a fake threatening letter. “The process is disgraceful, Marie Lebec and Aurora Berger used the same handwriting and especially the same double-sided sheet to write their false threats and thus position themselves as victims.”, we read in particular on Twitter. Why did this rumor spread? Because upon closer inspection, you can really see that the letter received by Marie Lebec and Aurora Bergé is the front and back of the same letter. On the transparency of the photos posted online by the two elected officials, we can see one and the other messages transmitted in their accounts.

It is also easy to see that if the letter sent to Marie Lebec is addressed to her directly and is written in the second person singular, then Aurora Berger’s letter is written in the third person, which implies that it was not addressed to her directly. “Beware”we read at the end of a letter threatening two deputies.

Marie Lebec denies allegations of forgery

How can these findings be explained? Marie Lebec explained this to Checknews. She indicates that she received the letter on Friday morning at her office and confirms that the message on the front was addressed to her, while the letter on the back was for the president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly. “Yes, this is the same letter”, she confirmed, while rejecting allegations of forgery. The elected official warned Aurora Bergé that she was mentioned in the letter, and the latter also decided to post a photo of the message concerning her on Twitter.
