The electric scooter referendum in Paris is good, but it won’t save the planet. When asked about the vote organized this Sunday by the Paris City Hall, Marine Tondelier at least relativized the importance of the issue during the LCI-RTL grand jury-Le Figaro, refusing to take a stand.
“I see that this is a big subject for discussion”she joked. “But be careful, because when we talk to you about the possible uninhabitability of the planet in thirty years, I tell myself that sometimes we have the wrong debate. And that all the hours we spend arguing about scooters, we don’t spend them saving humanity.”
“We let the Parisians vote”
“If this divides the Parisians and we have to decide, a referendum is the right decision”she clarified. “But in the media for two weeks we have more important topics to discuss than scooters”, insisted the patron of environmentalists, elected from Henin-Beaumont (Pas de Calais). Before concluding: “we let the people of Paris vote, wish them the best of luck in making the right decision…and stay focused”.
- There was a funny campaign in Paris around whether to service scooters or not
This Sunday, Parisians will vote to decide whether to ban these electric two-wheelers from the streets of the capital. Polling stations are open until 19:00 and results are expected around 22:00. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, promised to fulfill the wishes of the voters.
