Roland-Garros: Alcaraz scorer, Djokovic one win away from Grand Slam record

Novak Djokovic is one step away from the record. Against Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland-Garros semi-final, the Serbian got out of the trap and slipped into the final, his seventh Port d’Auteuil. After two stuck and high-level first sets (6-3, 5-7), the world number 1, presented as the successor to Rafael Nadal, suffered from cramps at the beginning of the third set.

I hope to reach my best level in tennis on Sunday

For several minutes, Carlos Alcaraz’s right leg, as well as his right hand, remained frozen, a sign of a physical struggle between the two men. In this game, experience (36 years for Djokovic) took precedence over youth (20 years for Alcaraz), and the Serb played against the Spaniard, who never recovered (6-1, 6-1).

Novak Djokovic returns to the Roland-Garros final, two years after his last title, and can now dream of one hell of a record. By the number of victories on the Parisian soil (14), belonging to the “owner of the place” Rafael Nadal, there is no equal. But Nole can surpass Rafa in the number of Grand Slams won. This time the two men share the record (22). Novak Djokovic is just one success away from the winner of the second semi-final Ruud-Zverev and marks a little more tennis history.
