Rugby: The tournament is closed, what is the schedule of XV France between today and the World Cup?

For serious things. After the Grand Slam in 2022 ended with an exceptional unbeaten year, the French rugby team lost their crown in the Six Nations Tournament. With their rightful defeat in Dublin last February (32-19), the Blues have swooped down on solid (and historic) Ireland. The Welsh winners in the last game (41-28) took an unfortunate second place in the standings with four successes in five games.

However, Antoine Dupont’s teammates continued to show progress in the game – with a brilliant display at Twickenham against England (10-53). The tricolors are on the right track towards the true goal of 2023: the home world championship (September 8 – October 28). Despite playing on Saturday in Saint-Denis against the Welsh, their last official match before the nationally expected deadline, Gael Fiku and his family still have a busy schedule.

Two training camps and four preparatory matches

Due to club deadlines, the French will only meet again this summer. This last big turn promises to be intense. Thus, on June 25, a week after the Top 14 final, 42 players will meet, who were supposed to fly to Guyana to undergo several days of special training (until June 30) as part of the Cayenne Foreign Legion regiment. But, according to Team, this meeting was canceled due to health reasons. As a replacement, FFR scheduled several weeks in Capbreton in addition to an internship in Monaco in mid-July.

Subsequently, four meetings will allow the Blues to calibrate against several big elections before an important meeting. After a double confrontation Scotland (August 5 and 12) – one of the opponents who have given France the most trouble since Fabien Galtier came to power, and the only nation to have won a victory in France during this period – they will cross swords with Fiji (August 19) then against Australia (August, 26th). At the same time, the first three days of the Top 14 will be played in duplicate, for which a minimum of nine players (maximum 14) will be provided to their club.

After these tests, the tricolor contingent will be reduced from 42 to 33 units. The lucky winners, whose names will be announced on August 28, will compete in the World Cup to embroider the first star on this rooster jersey. And from the very beginning, the menu promises to be rich with a gala duel against New Zealand (September 8, on TF1 at 21:00). This will be followed by confrontations with Uruguay (September 14, TF1 at 21:00), Namibia (September 21, TF1 at 21:00) and Italy (October 6, TF1 at 21:00), then, hopefully, the cleaver will match .
