We all dreamed of flying over traffic jams, and not getting stuck in a car? The road between science fiction and reality continues to narrow. In Canton, China, a flying taxi developed by Ehang is already entering its final testing phase. He already has 37,000 flight hours on his account, and he may soon receive a Chinese civil aviation certificate. With this precious sesame, the company will be able to sell it.
The car takes off vertically thanks to the power plant with eight rotors and, according to its designer, can reach a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Up to four passengers can be accommodated on board. And most importantly, according to Xin Fang, Ehang’s operations manager, using this flying taxi is child’s play. “The passenger just needs to tap on the destination on the screen and our command center will plan the route for them”He said.

Chinese company Ehang has been developing flying car models for a decade with the ultimate goal of alleviating traffic congestion in the country’s major cities. “In the future, we will use flying cars like taxis. The future of transport is already here”, he claims. To afford it, you will have to pay an amount of 330,000 euros. Suffice it to say that there is no democratization of this mode of transport yet. The technology is here and everyone wants their piece of the pie, including the craziest inventors!
In the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, a flying saucer-like plane flies over the city every day as part of a different experiment. The 200 kg machine was designed from carbon fiber. Like the drone, it is equipped with six rotors and eight homemade electric batteries that act as a motor. Even more futuristic is that the machine is fully controlled by artificial intelligence technology, which means there are no controls!
A journalist from TF1’s 20H was “lucky” to get on board. In flight “You seem to be shaking from a big shock”, she declares at the end of this, so to speak, mind-blowing experience. Added to this is the deafening noise of the rotors. For comfort, the concept will still have to be finalized. At the moment it is only a prototype, but its designer, Zhongxiao He, intends to sell it.
“We will sell it as a vehicle for tourist excursions, in front of the pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall [de Chine] and even the Eiffel Tower in Paris, we hope to put up for sale soon.”predicts its inventor.
Watching the ship fly at night is even more impressive. The show wows young and old. “It’s like going from science fiction to reality,” testifies the father at the TF1 microphone. “I really want to sit in it. It’s good to fly like that.“, the boy launches, and stars appear in his eyes. It may happen sooner than he thinks. His designer hopes to launch his flying saucer on the market in 2026.
