The picture is breathtaking. After heavy rains, a landslide occurs at the foot of several houses, swallowing the gardens and leaving the pool on the edge of a precipice. A testament to the rainy rampage that has been falling for several days in California, a state that has shackled extreme climate events in just a few months.
In the midst of this chaos, the Americans especially noted another scene: it was this man that the rescue services were looking for, which you can see in the video at the top of this article. He did everything not to let go of the wall and the cable, and not to be washed away by the waves of the river swollen from the rains.
California has 11 storms since the beginning of the year
Hold on at all costs until help comes to his aid. Thanks to the helicopter, the rescuer was able to reach him and, despite the current, tie him up and lift him up. The victim is out of the water, but not yet out of danger. The 51-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Los Angeles, where he was treated for hypothermia, but he did not receive other injuries. No one knows how he got into the water.

In Sacramento, heavy rains also cause mudslides and landslides along the Pacific coast. Four apartment buildings had to be evacuated, now on the edge of the void. The situation is improving, the rain has stopped. But many roads are still flooded and 50,000 homes remain without electricity. In addition, a new storm called Atmospheric River, the twelfth since the beginning of the year, could hit California next week.
