REPORT – In Rolling Fork, tornado devastated: “I can’t live here anymore”

And what will happen to the 2,000 residents of Rolling Fork (USA) now? William was at home during the deadly tornado, his home was completely destroyed. “I can’t live here anymore”he laments. Fortunately, unlike some of the neighbors, this pensioner had insurance. She paid him for a week at the hotel. What will he do next? He doesn’t know it yet. There are hundreds like him in the city waiting for possible compensation.

Sometimes entire regions disappeared. An insurance expert we met Monday morning admits the situation is unprecedented. “Insurance companies first conduct aerial reconnaissance, collect drone images and eventually send an army of experts,” he points. The work has already begun in the city. The challenge is to get water and electricity back up and running as quickly as possible.

But despite all efforts, not a single business in the city center will be able to open quickly. Most of the buildings are too damaged to be repaired. Therefore, they will have to be destroyed and then restored. It will take years for the City of Rolling Fork to recover from this tornado and resume normal economic activity.
